Watt's Up With That?

My favorite web site has become Watt's Up With That, a place that skewers the anthropomorphic global warming crowd several times a day.  One of today's follies is a forecast by the UK National Trust that England will be tropical within 90 years with palm trees and tropical fruit.  The Arctic will see temperature increases of 16 degrees Centigrade!

Never mind that the temperature of England has increased only 0.5 degrees C in the last 80 years and that is likely be the effect of Urban Heat Island encroachment on existing weather stations.  We have no idea about the arctic trend because there are no weather stations north of 80 degrees north latitude.  The Goddard estimates of arctic temperatures are based on measurements up to 1200 kilometers (750 miles) away.

Al Gore should be proud.  And rich.

Dave, it's not about money for Al Gore, re your "and rich" comment at end. Grant him that he really cares about the Earth and future gens, and yes, maybe he is wrong, but it's not about money. please. sir, be fair. cheap shots don't work. as for polar cities, my ideas, what's your POV on this? do blog on me too, http://pcillu101.blogspot.com - i've been banned for life at Wattsup if you want the truth! sigh danny, tufs 1971

and PS, Mike Roddy is a good man, let's stop all this name calling, i am sure Anthony Watts and Marc Morano and you too are good people. let's disagree sure, but let's be civil, no?

I don't believe I said anything about Mike Roddy or his blog. As for Al Gore, surely you have followed the history of the Chicago Carbon Exchange which was started with $1.1 million in foundation grants. The CCX was sold for $700 million. We don't know Gore's share, but Prof. Sandor at Northwestern received about $100 million for his 16.7%. Gore is a principal in Generation Investment Management along with Goldman Sachs. GIM owned 10% of CCX. CCX has since gone belly up.

So I guess it's just happenstance that Al has made so much money on CCX and through lectures about a phony subject.

Check my current post about Al Gore's admission that the US ethanol policy, for which he was singularly responsible, was a mistake. He did that for self-promotion. Can we really say that self-promotion is not about money?
